Anxious Minds was founded in 2015 stemming from the CEO’s personal experiences with PTSD, anxiety and depression. This gives us both a detailed understanding of the reality of mental health and a passionate desire to improve the situation.
We are now a multi-award-winning mental health charity that has been operating in the North East of England for over 10 years. Here are the key details about the charity:
Mission and Commitment
Anxious Minds is dedicated to supporting individuals aged 14 and above who are facing mental health challenges, suicidal crises, and experiences of abuse. The charity’s mission is to provide life-saving and life-changing support, creating sanctuaries of hope and healing for those in crisis across the North East region.

- Personalised Care: The charity believes in the importance of immediate, personalised care. It offers rapid access to one-to-one therapies that guide individuals through their darkest thoughts and feelings.
- Skilled Professionals: The therapists at Anxious Minds are highly skilled, multi-award-winning professionals accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. They specialise in identifying the root causes of each individual’s crisis and providing tailored support to address them.
Types of Services
1. Counselling and Therapy: Anxious Minds offers tailored, person-centred interventions through six to eighteen face-to-face sessions at its centres in North Tyneside and Blyth. These sessions are crucial for those in crisis, often triggered by trauma, abuse, relationship breakdowns, financial hardships, or bereavement.
2. Long-Term Recovery Centres: The charity operates two long-term recovery centres—one for veterans and the other for the wider community. These centres provide weekly peer support groups for those who have completed initial interventions but need ongoing support. Facilitated by Anxious Minds therapists, these groups help individuals share experiences, discuss coping strategies, and build resilience, with support available for up to a year.
3. Support for Trauma and Abuse Survivors: Anxious Minds provides life-changing support to individuals impacted by various forms of trauma and abuse, including domestic violence, neglect, sexual abuse, rape, and sexual assault. The charity also extends critical support to those in suicidal crises and offers specialised services for veterans and their families.
Target Audience
Anxious Minds supports individuals impacted by trauma, abuse, mental health challenges, and suicidal crises. The organisation extends its services to veterans, their families, and the broader community, helping them navigate their mental health journeys.
Long-Term Impact
The charity’s commitment goes beyond the completion of counselling treatments, providing long-term support services as needed. Its goal is to help people build resilience, stay out of crisis, and continue their recovery journeys effectively.
Overall, Anxious Minds is a dedicated organisation providing crucial mental health support and resources to those in need across the North East, with a strong focus on personalised care, evidence-based interventions, and long-term recovery support.
