Veteran Families and Carers Support

At Anxious Minds, we are committed to ensuring that everyone leaving the British Armed Forces community feels genuinely seen, heard and supported.

We recognise the immense sacrifices made not only by our brave service members but also by their families and carers. Over the past four years, we have been working with veteran families and carers in the North East, providing comprehensive support to ensure they receive the care, resources and assistance they deserve. We understand the challenges of transitioning from military to civilian life and have developed dedicated programmes to ease this process, foster community and promote well-being.

Comprehensive Assistance Programmes

Our services are designed to address the diverse needs of veteran families and carers. From financial assistance to educational resources, we are committed to providing practical and meaningful support. Our financial aid programmes offer referrals to emergency funds for unexpected expenses and grants for long-term needs.

Veteran Families and Carers Support

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Mental health is central to our support efforts. We offer counselling services, support groups and workshops tailored to help families and carers navigate the unique stressors associated with transitioning to civvy life. Our team of trained professionals provides compassionate care for issues such as anxiety, depression and abuse, ensuring both veterans and their loved ones receive the support they need.

Educational Resources

Education is a vital tool for empowerment. Through partnerships with organisations such as Reed, the Learning Curve Group and other local providers, we offer free vocational training and continuing education courses for young people and partners of veterans.

Employment and Career Services

We understand how daunting it can be to transition from military to civilian employment. Our career services support veterans and their partners by offering CV writing workshops, job search assistance and networking opportunities with employers who value the unique skills and experiences of military families.

Community Building

Building a strong and supportive community is at the heart of what we do. We host regular events and activities, such as family fun days and peer mentoring programmes, to bring veteran families and carers together. These initiatives foster a sense of belonging and mutual support, helping to build lasting relationships and networks.

Advocacy and Outreach

We work closely with policymakers to advocate for improved legislation and recognition for veteran families and carers. Our staff help connect families with local resources and organisations, ensuring they receive the support they are entitled to.

Get Involved

Supporting veteran families and carers is a community effort. We welcome volunteers and donors who share our commitment to making a difference. Whether you can contribute your time, skills or financial support, there are many ways to get involved. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have given so much for our country.
