Counselling Services
Northumberland – Newcastle – North Tyneside
Affordable Counselling Services for the North Tyneside and Newcastle Online, Phone or In-house
Counselling is a form of support that enables the development of greater personal resilience. Our counselling services focus on using your strengths to develop new strategies for finding solutions to difficulties. We specialise in a wide range of needs, including anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties and more. Our team of volunteer and paid counsellors provide low-cost counselling services.
Which Talking Therapy is Right for Me?
If you are unsure about choosing between counselling and psychotherapy, we can help you talk it through and make a decision. We believe it is usually better to start small and progress from there. Our counsellors are members of BACP or UKCP and are experts in various areas such as anxiety counselling, PTSD, depression counselling, anger management, abuse counselling, bereavement and grief counselling, stress management and low self-esteem.
1-1 and Online Counselling Sessions
We offer 1-1 and online counselling sessions. If you can commit to attending scheduled sessions, please apply. Non-attendance at scheduled sessions reduces the availability of sessions for our members and has a cost to the charity. If you miss a session without letting us know you will be removed.
Cost of the Service
Anxious Minds runs a low-cost counselling service with a cost of £30 per session (If you are unemployed or on a low income the cost is £20) We encourage you to discuss your counselling needs with your GP first if you feel able to do so. Your GP can refer you to a range of general and specialist mental health services, so talking openly with your GP may help you access the right service the first time around.
We offer friendly and supportive counselling in a way that works best for you, including face-to-face counselling, telephone counselling, and group counselling.
Face to Face Counselling
The counsellor sees the client in a confidential setting, such as our base in Blyth and Wallsend or our outreach venues across the North East.
Telephone Counselling
The counsellor arranges a telephone counselling appointment at a convenient time and the counselling session takes place over the phone. Which means the client can access the service from their home or work.
Group Counselling
People with similar problems and experiences come together in a private and confidential setting with a trained counsellor. Everyone in the group talks and listens to each other and works through their problems as a collective.
