VETERAN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

For Armed Forces veterans and families facing the invisible wounds of service, Anxious Minds stands as a beacon of hope, understanding, and recovery.

If you are struggling with your mental health, we can refer you to Op Courage and provide meaningful support while you wait, or if you prefer an alternative to NHS provision we provide fast access into our own mental health services

We recognise that military-related trauma requires specialist care from professionals who truly understand its complexity. That is why our clinical team delivers expert, evidence-based support specifically tailored for veterans and reservists experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other service-related mental health challenges.

Winner of seven national awards for support to the veteran community through healthcare and rehabilitation, and accredited by Royal College of Psychiatrists for the Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services. The Veteran Recovery College provides crucial early intervention and long-term support for Veterans and HM Forces Reservists. We understand that veteran’ mental health and addiction struggles can impact their families too, which is why we are committed to supporting both veterans and their loved ones by providing life-changing support when needed, open five days a week Monday til Friday

VETERAN FAMILIES AND CARERS

The Veteran Families and Carers Support Service is dedicated to helping both families and carers of sick and injured Veterans and Reservists. Our experienced team offers tailored support, from advocacy to mental health, through one-to-one sessions and peer support groups. We also deliver specialist training and informative sessions, designed by us, to make life easier for you and the person you care for. In addition, we provide practical guidance, signposting to services, emotional resilience workshops, and community events to ensure carers feel valued, heard, and empowered in their vital role.

Are you struggling to put food on the table or feeling alone and in need of a helping hand? The Veterans & Community Kitchen & Food Bank is here for you. We’re dedicated to providing nourishing hot meals and a supportive environment for anyone who needs our help, including the Veterans their families, the homeless, unemployed and vulnerable across Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside. Whether you’re a veteran adjusting to civilian life or someone facing difficult times, our doors are open to you. Join us from Monday to Fridays, with a Veteran Breakfast Club on Fridays, from 10:30am. Let us fight hunger and loneliness together – all are welcome at our community kitchen.

SUPPORT INTO HOUSING

From buying your first home to being homeless, our team members are trained to support the Armed Forces Community finding suitable housing and settling into their local community.

We also provide general housing advice and support across a wide range of housing-related issues, including moving home, homelessness, and rent arrears. Our team has strong working relationships with local authority housing departments and charities that provide housing for homeless veterans, ensuring coordinated, timely, and effective support.

Our team consists of highly experienced, fully trained caseworkers who specialise in benefits and financial support. We work closely with trusted partners, including the Royal British Legion, and SSAFA, to ensure you receive timely, accurate, and effective support.

We provide a comprehensive assessment of your individual circumstances, focusing on your financial situation and wider needs.

Where benefits support is needed, we have over ten years’ experience helping people access the benefits they are entitled to. As members of Advice UK, we can guide you through the process directly or refer you to specialist organisations for additional support where required.

EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

Through our strong partnerships with local authority employment teams and a wide range of Armed Forces employment organisations, we help service leavers and their families access high-quality employment and training opportunities.

We work with specialist veteran employment organisations, giving us direct access to a broad range of jobs and training pathways. Alongside this, we have our own dedicated job board that is connected to over 200 employment agencies that keeps you informed about current opportunities here in the North East and helps you connect with the right options at the right time.

Join our Veteran and Family Fitness and Boxing Classes  a welcoming and supportive environment designed to help veterans and their loved ones stay active, healthy, and connected. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, boost your mental wellbeing, or simply enjoy time together, our classes are perfect for all ages and abilities. Led by experienced instructors who understand the unique needs of veterans and their families, sessions focus on building strength, resilience, and community.

VETERAN OUTDOOR THERAPY
