Veterans and Carers Support Group – Clover Cottage, Beamish Museum

The Veterans and Carers Support Group at Clover Cottage, Beamish Museum provides a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for veterans, carers, and those living with dementia or memory loss. Set within the tranquil surroundings of Clover Cottage, the group offers opportunities for social connection, shared experiences, and meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and reduce isolation.

Through heritage-inspired activities, conversation, and peer support, participants are encouraged to engage with the here-and-now, build confidence, and maintain social connections. The group recognises the unique challenges faced by veterans and carers and provides a safe space where individuals can access understanding, friendship, and practical support.

By drawing upon the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of Beamish Museum, the group helps stimulate memories, encourage conversation, and create enjoyable experiences for people affected by dementia and memory loss, while also offering carers valuable opportunities for support, respite, and connection with others facing similar experiences.
